The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy postulates three stages of evolution. Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication (or better known as “how can we eat”, “why do we eat” and “where shall we have lunch”).
The first is simple when using BeOS. Sitting in front of a BeOS desktop gives you everything you need. For the second question you just have to take a look at the filesystem or, if you’re a real deep-downer, at the BeOS API. But solving the third and always knowing on which workspace you’re on you’ll need this piece of software.
